In the sixties, I was a little colored girl living in a protective all-black community. Only engaging with black businessmen, doctors, and teachers. The only time I saw white people was on TV or when we went downtown to shop. The Black Baptist Church shaped my worldview, where we prayed to God and aspired to be more like Jesus. Somewhere in the bible, Jesus says, these things I do you will also, and greater. I heard this repeated over and over thousands of times in church. Never believing a mortal man could ever engage with spirit in any way other than worshiping in church. Well, there came a time in my life when life got exceedingly difficult, that’s when I made my most sincere prayer, “God if you are real, show me so I will have absolutely no doubts.” That’s how it all started, I was desperate to know and made a request. God, are you real?

My view of God was very immature, even though I was raised in the church. I was certain those who had illnesses or difficult lives were bad people not worthy of his favor. I couldn’t understand why he would allow a devoted person such as me to also have a difficult life. I wasn’t homeless or starving in the streets. But still compared to all my friends, their lives appeared to be filled with good fortune. This book tells my story of how God answered my prayers, by shifting my perspective and dramatically altering my perception of, “All there is and all there can be”. This journal has been designed so you might start shifting your perspectives.
